Tsunami is Japan word. Tsunami is seismic sea wave. In the past we have heard about tsunami in the period of king Kelanitissa. By the cause of earthquake or cause of other reason the sea wave rolling into the sea shore and destroy all the things. This is called “Tsunami”.
There are some reasons cause it. They are,
1. Moving tectonic plates in the sea bed.
2. Volcanic eruptions.
3. Sea bed slips in the bottom of the  sea.
4. Nuclear blast were happen under the sea.
5.Asteroid or meteorite fall into sea,.

In 26th of  December 2004 we had to face an unforgettable opportunities. We never face this unfortunately opportunity before this. The day is poya day. The tsunami reached our country on Sri Lankan time at about 8.27 a.m. in the east shore. Such as Sri Lanka, Thailand, Sumatra, India, Malaysia, Maldives Island, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Tanzania, Somalia had face to this opportunity.

Advantages and Disadvantages of the Village Life and City Life

November 10, 2007

Sometime you may be think, the city life is better than village life. However there are so many advantages and disadvantages in city life and village life.Actually the city life is more comfortable. As well as there are more opportunities for people to progress in their lives. There are a lot of facilities for people in the city and they have more opportunities for making money. Children living in the city can get a good education, because there are better school in the town than in the village. When a person falls ill there are good government and private hospital in the city to get treatment. There are large shop complexions, banks, offices, cinemas, hostels, clubs, hospitals etc. in and around the city. People in the city have better transport facilities than the village. There is electricity, highway, communication, telecommunication, plumb facilities in the city. So people can lead a comfortable and enjoyable fife in the city.Although living in the city has many advantages there are some disadvantages too. The cost of living is very high in the city. Most goods are very expensive. There is no fresh air and pure water. The environment is polluted with dust, smoke, garbage and dioxide gases from factories. Most of the people who live in the city are corrupted. So there are lots of crimes in the city. Many thefts and murders often take place in the city. The city is always busy and noisy. There are a lot of vehicles and people in the road. The streets are dusty and unclean. So it is hard to lead a healthy life in the city. As well as there are so many advantages in the village life. Mainly the people of the village live in unity and peace. The villagers earn money very hard and earn money enough for live. So they live less competition with each other. So they can reach a good position. They have more friends in the community since it is small. The village people always try to protect their traditional habits and culture. The village has clean air and the environment is very beautiful. The village has less noise and rush. So the pollution is less. The village has not lot of vehicles. So roads are less dangerous for driving cycling. They can get fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. The environment of the village is pleasant and silent and it has scenic beauty. The village has not only good points, but also it has bad points. The village has intelligent people. But many people are not educated. Villager’s children go to the village’s school. They are not go to the city’s school. They have difficult to keep up with new developments in  their field or profession. Same day villagers live same place. Village people have to face many difficulties for their lives , like traveling problems. They have to go to the city for supply their needs.  Although the life in the city is more comfortable than village, I like village life than city.

My country is Sri Lanka. It is a small island which is in the Indian ocean. It is known as the “pearl” of the Indian ocean. It lies between longitudes 79 and 81 east and latitudes 5 and 10 north. From north to South the island is 425 kilometers long. From west to east it is 225 kilometers wide. The capital city of Sri Lanka is Sri Jayawardanapura Kotte. The island has a tropical climate. Two monsoons coming from the north east and the south west bring rain to all parts of the country. The temperature ranges between 20 to 30 centigrade. In the central hills the climate is cooler. There are many different wild flowers, shrubs and trees here and the Peradeniya and Huggala botanical gardens have a large variety of tropical plants. It has many mountains, waterfalls, rivers, forests, tanks, flower gardens, animals, birds, beaches and ruined cities. The highest mountain is Pidurutalagala, which is 2524 meters high and the longest river is the Mahaweli, which is over 300 kilometres long. Kelani, Kalu, Walawe and Nilwala also big rivers. As well as there are beautiful waterfalls in my country like Dunhida and Lakshapana. They help to produce electricity. We have forests where animals, birds, reptiles live freely.Yala, Wilpaththu and Kumana are wild life reserves. Wild animals live in the game reserves. Elephants, leopards, bears, deer, Loris and monkeys are found here. There are many varieties of birds live in their natural habitat. Peacocks. Eagles. There are so many fertile paddy fields in my country. It is symbol of my country’s prosperity. There are large tanks and ruined cities at Anuradhapura and Polonnaruea. Sigiriya is the 8th wonder in the world. Many tourists came to our country,  because it has a natural beautiful. The golden beaches of Sri Lanka are very much enjoyed by the tourists. The tourist business in Sri Lanka brings in income to the economy. Sri Lanka has always been famous for it’s precious stones. In the past traders from overseas visited the island looking for gems. This is still an important market today. In the present the president of Sri Lanka is Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha and the prime minister of Sri Lanka is Mr. Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka. The population of Sri Lanka is about 20 million. Ethnic groups include the Sinhalese, Tamils., Muslims and Burgers live in our country. The majority population is Sinhalese and the minority population is Tamils. We live peacefully in our country. The people of my country live very honestly and kindly.Unfortunately we had to face tsunami tragedy in 2004 and lots of people died at that moment.I am very happy to be born in this beautiful country. I am proud of  my country. I love my motherland. “May all gods bless my country” I love my beautiful country forever.

Why I want to be a computer teacher

November 4, 2007

A man without ambition is useless. Everybody is born with some purpose. Then he or she should fulfill it. I do not want wealth or power. I want to serve my country. That is my only ambition. Therefore I want to become a teacher. By becoming a teacher I shall serve the pupils. I shall teach to the poor children. Since childhood any person has a dream for his or her future they want to be a doctor, engineer, teacher, pilot and etc. Since my childhood I had a ambition to be a teacher, Now a days I like to be a teacher in Computer section, Since my little age I learn very hard to success my ambition.          Teaching is a noble profession and it is very respectful job. As well as we are unable to gain our knowledge without the help of the teachers. A teacher’s responsibilities are many and when the pupils behave badly or fail the examination the teacher’s hopes are disappointed. The teacher shows correct path to the young generation and they advise to them. Sometime they have to face many difficulties. Sometimes they have to face traveling problems in rural area. But their service is very valuable and grateful. By becoming a teacher I think I can do grateful service to my pupils. Some pupils are calm, attractive and clever. Some are mischievous. I can teach them very well and I can show the correct, good future to them. I like to be a valuable, good person to my country. I try to achieve my ambition in near future. That is why those days, I have joined to the e-village project.
